This is a truly stunning Cinque Ports earthenware vase, with a gorgeous hand-painted green abstract flower design. This is a large vase, in a beautiful shape perfect for cut flowers, and fully glzed inside and out in white, overglazed with a hand painted green flower motif. Made at The Monastery, Rye, England, designed by David Sharp and George Gray. Immaculate, 1970's, Vintage

Cinque Ports Pottery was originally founded in 1956 by David Sharp (formally of Rye Pottery) and his friend George Gray. Within a few years they had expanded and became a limited company; however, in 1964 the two men parted company due to differences in working styles. George Gray kept the name 'Cinque Ports' and moved to new premises at 'The Monastery'. He started to produce commercial and domestic wares that proved extremely popular. The stamp on this vase dates it between 1965 and 1980.

The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, crazing, stains or cracks. Stamped in black on the base is a circle with the words "CINQUE PORTES POTTERY LTD THE MONASTERY RYE"
It measures approximately 26cm high with a 15cm diameter at the widest point, and weighs just under 1100g (without packaging).
